Severa Acne Treatment Isotretinoin (Accutane) Causes Birth Defects Side Effects

Researchers of Pittsburgh School of Medicine recently found most people didn’t know ‘severa acne treatment Accutane (isotretinoin) may cause birth defects side effects’ It has been proved that women who took medicine as their severa acne treatment may cause birth defects during pregnancy. But sadly most people still not aware of its danger. Their findings have been published in journal JAMA Dermatology.

Isotretinoin or Accutane has long been used to treat severa acne breakout and it’s now proved taking Isotretinoin during pregnancy may lead to birth defects. To test of such common knowledge among women at their childbrearing age and took isotretinoin. A program called iPledge was launched by U.S. Food and Drug Administration to required these women to complete related tests and review the materials.

The results are very disappointing. The Pitt research group found out that such efforts to help pregnant women aware of Isotretinoin side effects had been unsuccessful, said Dr. Eleanor Bimla Schwarz, leader of the the study.

“Unfortunately, our medical community has a long tradition of telling women not to get pregnant without equipping them with the tools they need to avoid pregnancy,” Schwarz said.

Deep researches are still needed to help women realize the Isotretinoin side effects during pregnancy and to help them get access to contraceptives on time. Moreover, it’s necessary for these women to know the safe acne treatment during pregnancy.
